In recent years, Windows 7 has been the most popular operating system in the world, a milestone that was exceeded by another system at the end of 2018. Microsoft will not pay much attention to the change, because the new number one position comes from the producer. With 39.22% of market share, Windows 10 is now the most popular system in the world. This against the 36.9% of Windows 7.
Windows 7 has been immensely popular indicates the current figures. Windows 7 appeared in 2009 and is now almost 10 years old. On the other hand, Windows 10 appeared in 2015 and now tries to take the lead, something that has finally succeeded.
Microsoft planned to provide more than 1 billion devices with Windows 10 within the year. However, this plan did not go through entirely because the Windows Phone did not cooperate. The operating system is now running on more than 700 million devices including desktop computers, tablets, telephones, and Xbox One consoles.
Even though Microsoft has done everything it can to get Windows 7 users to switch, the popularity for the system has managed to keep up. That is why the milestone im the market share is a very important one for Windows 10, as the support for W7 expires on January 14, 2020.
The users now seem to have made the switch, but companies are still firmly stuck to the 2009 system. Microsoft will have to do everything it can to pull the wallet. Something we saw happening earlier when Windows 7 became more popular than Windows XP.
