The San Diego Comic-Con opened its doors Wednesday night, kicking off with one of the most anticipated panels: the nickname “ScareDiego” by James Wan and New Line Cinema with horror productions such as The Curse of La Llorona, Annabelle 3, IT: Chapter Two and The Nun.
We tell you the details:
1. The Curse of La Llorona
The Curse of La Llorona stole the attention in the presentation of the study. The film will be produced by Wan, Gary Dauberman, and Emile Gladstone while Michael Chaves is placed at the head of the project, directing from the script written by Mikki Daughtry and Tobias Iaconis.
The story revolves around the character portrayed by Linda Cardellini, a widowed social worker raising her two children in Los Angeles in 1973, who finds similarities between a case she investigates and the supernatural events that haunt her own family. This is La Llorona, a popular figure of Mexican folklore that is the ghost of a woman who has lost her children and cries them while causing havoc in those around her.
New Line will premiere The Curse of La Llorona on April 19, 2019.
2. Annabelle 3
During the presentation, Wan also advanced details about the next chapter in the profitable Universe of The Sorcery, Annabelle 3, accompanied by his screenwriter and director, Gary Dauberman.
The first spinoff of The Conjuring, presented the demonic doll as one of the many scares preserved in the Warren Museum, while the second spinoff, Annabelle: Creation (2017), worked as a prequel explaining the origin of the doll. In the Comic-Con, it was confirmed that the new installment will be developed in the present and will terrify the daughter of Ed and Lorraine Warren ( Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga ).
On the ScareDiego panel, Dauberman explained (via EW ), “I’m still finishing the script, but I’m really getting it back with the Warren taking Annabelle to the place where she can no longer wreak havoc, which is her artifact room. But, of course, it turns out that she can also wreak havoc there. And it certainly awakens the evil inside that room, and they turn to Judy, the 10-year-old daughter of the Warren. That is the setting. ”
“Annabelle basically activates all the other artifacts possessed in the room,” explains Wan. “So, basically [it’s] Night at the Museum, but with demons.” Dauberman scripted the first two installments of Annabelle, and The Nun co-wrote IT (2017) and wrote the screenplay for the film adaptation of Are You Afraid of the Dark for Paramount Pictures.
The Conjuring Universe is made up to the moment of the following films:
- The Conjuring (2013)
- Annabelle (2014)
- The Conjuring 2 (2016)
- Annabelle: Creation (2017)
- The Nun (2018)
New Line will launch Annabelle 3 in theaters on July 3, 2019.

The sequel to Andy Muschietti, which began filming on July 2, will hit theaters on September 6, 2019.
