The Electronic Entertainment Expo – that’s E3 for short – is the world’s biggest gaming show, and each year’s event shows us all the huge games we’ll be playing in the future. Gaming fans can look forward to huge gaming reveals, gorgeous trailers and a chance to go hands-on with the latest titles from developers around the globe.
Eager to see which games we’ll be lusting after later this year and beyond? Here’s a look at all of the biggest E3 announcements so far.
MICROSOFT E3 2018
Microsoft has not disappointed in its press conference of E3 2018. A show that has begun with the announcement of Halo Infinite, a new delivery of the flagship of the console, and that has ended with the world premiere of the expected Cyberpunk 2077, the new game from the creators of The Witcher.
Between these two titles, there have been dozens of ads among those who have highlighted the announcement and the first images of several multiplatform productions – such as Devil May Cry 5, The Division 2 and Sekiro: Shadow Die Twice – but missed the presence of exclusive games.
Microsoft has started its presentation this year with a new video game of the Master Chief. The conference has started directly with the trailer of a new video game developed by 343 industries of which, yes, no more details have been given. Sequel to Halo 5: Guardians? New saga?
Ori and the Will of the Wisps
The Metroidvania that dazzled everyone with its first delivery will return in 2019. Presented originally in the past E3, we could see an extensive video focused on the gameplay and, it is clear, this sequel is more ambitious in all aspects. Of course, we still have no specific date.
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
After a cryptic announcement on the PSX 2017, From Software has revealed its next project, with the help of Activision, and it is as spectacular as you would expect. With an amalgam of influences, being clear Bloodborne but also Tenchu, we see a video game very similar to Soulsbourne but still faster and more intense. It will arrive in 2019.
Todd Howard has gone on stage to show a trailer with gameplay fragments of his new project, Fallout 76. Howard has promised to teach more in a few hours and eye has confirmed that it will be a prequel and the mapping will be four times greater than that of Fallout 4.
An intense trailer with, finally, a good portion of gameplay has been shown. The development of Crackdown 3, starring Terry Crews, is still ongoing and will arrive in February 2019.
The work of the Russian studio of 4AGames continues to look at a high technical level (maybe not as much as last year, of course) and in the gameplay shown, the identity of the brand has become clear. It will arrive, in a somewhat risky play, on February 22, 2019. Coinciding with the exclusive of Sony and the grand project of Bioware and being close to Crackdown 3.
Forza Horizon 4
As expected, Microsoft has also announced Forza Horizon 4, the new installment in its flagship series of open-world racing games. On this occasion, it will be set in Great Britain and will place special emphasis on the changes caused by the weather throughout the different seasons of the year. It will arrive on October 2 of this year.
Devil May Cry 5
Capcom has made one of the most anticipated returns come true with the announcement of Devil May Cry 5, the beat ’em up starring the charismatic Dante Sparda, who will return after almost a decade of absence. It is in development for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC and is scheduled for the spring of 2019.
Gears of War 5
Gears of War 5 will be the new installment in this popular series of Xbox exclusive action games. This new installment will follow in the footsteps of soldier Kait Diaz and recover the brutal brand shootings of the house.
Microsoft kept an ace up its sleeve and closed its presentation with the new project CD Projekt RED, initially announced in 2013. They have shown the spectacular trailer that crowns these lines, making clear the tone and atmosphere, but, yes, we have not even been able to see an indicative launch year. It seems that it will have to wait long and hard.
SQUARE ENIX E3 2018
The Square Enix conference was almost without surprises several titles had already been presented by Microsoft during the day, and will surely have others stored for Sony.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider
Shadow of the Tomb Raider was the game in charge of opening the conference, with an extensive playable demonstration of Square Enix’s big bet for this Christmas season. It will be released on September 14 on PS4, Xbox One, and PC
Final Fantasy XIV x Monster Hunter World
Another crossover event for the Eorzea collection, and a promotion for the current Stormblood patch. Nothing new, really. Final Fantasy XIV has got stuck a lot in having formulaic patches with cyclical content, and this kind of small collaborations does not provide substance.
Dragon Quest XI
More content of this saga, which for us has always stood out for its beautiful graphics style of Toriyama, and this time they balance very well the cel-shading of anime with 3D graphics. They also announced that the game will have a crossover with Final Fantasy Brave Exvius. It will be released on September 4 for PC, PS4, with some luck, also to Switch.
One of the big surprises of the presentation has come from the studio led by Hideki Kamiya. In addition to the next Bayonetta 3, the company is working on what is intended to be a hack n ‘slash of fantastic ambiance. It will arrive in 2019 on Steam and PS4.
The next month of July we can finally put the glove on ‘Octopath Traveler’ in Switch. The reason for Square Enix to have wanted to reserve a space during their conference, but a pity that they have not done it with something more than hard.
Just Cause 4
Although Square Enix presented the game at the Xbox conference, it has now announced new details about the weapons, the gameplay, the vehicles and the open-world map of the new Just Cause.
The Quiet Man
The Quiet Man, a title starring a deaf man in which sound (or lack of it) seems to be of great importance. It is not known exactly what it is about, but the trailer promises to be a kind of brawler or fighting game.
Kingdom Hearts 3
Although Square had already anticipated the release date of Kingdom Hearts 3 (January 29) and announced that it will be available for Xbox One, in its new trailer they have confirmed that in addition to the Frozen characters, Ratatouille will also be present, accumulating more and more Disney Characters.
Bad idea to close a conference with something that the vast majority of the public has already seen.
SONY E3 2018
Next to Microsoft, Sony’s presentation at E3 is usually the main agitator of the event, including a remarkable number of exclusive and third-party titles. Sony’s exclusives highlight the strength of PS4 exclusives, giving players a taste of action, adventure, and ambitious production values.
This year, after the statements of Shawn Layden, we know in advance what projects he will first show and we need to understand how and how much we will see of The Last of Us 2, Death Stranding, Spiderman and Ghost of Tsushima. Will there be the sizeable multiplatform presence? We review everything.
Last of Us 2
Sony has started strong with The Last of Us 2, nothing less. The new adventure of Naughty Dog focuses, at least in this extended gameplay, on Ellie and seems a step forward in all aspects concerning the excellent first delivery. Unfortunately, yes, we have no date.
Ghost of Tsushima
Sucker Punch’s new work was presented months ago, and we looked forward to seeing more of his history of the samurai. The seen meets, in a right way, with all the stereotypes of oriental films and is at a very high technical level. We do not have a date either.
Sam Lake’s company had been working on the P7 project for some time and, it seems, this is his new cinematic adventure. Surprising its exaggerated resemblance to Quantum Break and missing if there is a possible connection between the two. This game published by 505 Games with what may come, in 2019, to other platforms.
Resident Evil 2
Announced years ago, it was time to see this update of the mythical second installment of the saga. Capcom has worked on it without making much noise and, although we have seen little, we know that the adventure of Leon and Claire will be available on January 25, 2019.
We could not miss the new project of Hideo Kojima. At last, we have seen some gameplay that, yes, still does not make evident what kind of genre we talk about and what will be the purpose of the game. It remains as cryptic as it is striking and, also, the presence of Léa Seydoux adds to an adventure full of great names. For the third consecutive E3, again, it still has no estimated launch date.
Perhaps, one of the most unexpected announcements of E3. In a fair unusually full of video games that bet on the oriental-like Sekiro and the own Ghost of Tsushima, Koei Tecmo has dropped the existence of NiOh 2 with a teaser that has not shown much more.
Surprisingly, the adventure of Peter Parker has closed the Sony presentation with, again, an extended gameplay in which we have been able to see the wide array of villains: Electro, Vulture, Scorpion, and Negative come together to stand up to the trepamuros, and We have been able to intuit the presence of a possible companion. To know more, this we know, we will have to wait until September 7.
UBISOFT E3 2018
Ubisoft is one of the veterans at the edges of E3. Another year comes as one of the big companies with chances to surprise at a fair that, for the rest, is being quite conservative. The company directed by Yves Guillemot has like possible sturdy plates to The Division 2, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey or, why not, a new Splinter Cell. And closed their lectures with the traditional surprise.
Ubisoft has decided to use the event in the most festive and lively way possible and, musical band and dancers through, has organized a number with which to present the new Just Dance and announce the release date, next October.
Beyond Good and Evil 2
The new video game of the franchise, which will be a prequel, is still in development and has shown a small look at the gameplay of the pre-alpha version of the game. Anyway, it seems a long way to enjoy the game on our consoles and PC.
As a curiosity, with the collaboration of the company Hit Record, co-founded by Joseph Gordon Levitt, Ubisoft plans to introduce in the universe of the video game content created by fans: from songs, graffiti, and murals or radio programs.
Rainbow Six Siege
Ubisoft has boasted the success and great follow-up of Rainbow Six Siege, reviewing the recent milestones of a video game that premiered almost three years ago, and has announced the development of a documentary focused on great figures of the competitive scene of the video game named Another Mindset.
After an unnecessarily ridiculous and uncomfortable introduction, the creative director of Ubisoft RedLynx has announced Trials Rising, a new installment of the saga. The video game will have a closed beta and will be released in February on PS4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch.
The Division 2
Depicted in depth yesterday, at the Microsoft conference, Division 2 has made an appearance with a CGI trailer in which the two sides of Washington DC that we will cover have been shown: from its green areas and the communities formed by the survivors even the rawness of the enemy bands. Besides, it has been specified that once the maximum level is reached, we can choose specializations for our soldiers and, also, raids for up to eight players will be included.
Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle
It seems that Ubisoft has caught the taste of musical numbers and in the middle of the presentation we have seen as a band led by Grant Kirhope, composer of soundtracks for Rare games and, of course, Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle. One way to remind us that the Donkey Kong Adventure DLC will arrive on June 26.
Skulls & Bones
The ultimate corsair experience of Ubisoft has had double ration at the event; first a CGI more for a presentation full of them and, then, gameplay in which to show the customization of the ships and, the core of the experience, the impressive naval combats. And the development seems to be progressing correctly and, of course, it continues to look great. It will be released in 2019.
Well, the grand announcement related to Starfox, the character created by Shigeru Miyamoto, will be part of the template characters and protagonists, of course, including his mythical ship. It will arrive on October 16 on PS4, Xbox One, and Switch.
In addition to announcing that the For Honor Starter Pack will be free in UPlay from June 11 to 18, we have known Marching Fire, the expansion of the game that will revolve around oriental warriors, come from Mongolia and Japan, among other regions. Besides, it will include a PVP mode of 4vs4 that will revolve around sieges to castles and fortresses.
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey
After Origins, Ubisoft continues to bet on the identity that led to the success of the delivery starring Bayek but still going further. Odyssey will allow us to choose the character between a male and female and also what to say and how to act in conversations and encounters. It will arrive on October 5.
BETHESDA E3 2018
E3 2018 is the fourth presentation of Bethesda in the biggest event of the video game industry. In the weeks leading up to the event, we were able to see the ads for Rage 2 and Fallout 76, so their presence is assured, but maybe the company keeps some ace up its sleeve.
After the live performance of Andrew WK, creators of the song of the first trailer of the game, a very nervous game director gave an uncomfortable presentation after that we have been able to take a look at how Rage 2 is played and what its world is like. It will arrive in the spring of 2019.
The Elder Scrolls: Legends
The card game of the Bethesda franchise will undergo a full face-lift, in the graphic, soon. In addition, it has announced its arrival to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It seems that from Bethesda they want to give a second impulse to a project that does not finish to start in a market where Hearthstone dominates with an iron hand.
The first big surprise of the presentation has come from the hand of DOOM Eternal, a sequel to the greatest hits of 2016. This classic franchise returned with more force than ever and, as they have confirmed in the presentation, we will know about how it looks and how to play in the next QuakeCon.
Arkane Studios has announced a great free update available for today that will add New Game + and a survival mode. In addition, they have also confirmed Mooncrash, the rumored DLC that will take us to the moon and, as they have stated, will be highly replayable as it will change every time we play it. Finally, throughout the summer they will launch a new modality named Typhon Hunter, a 4vs1 that will work as a hideout.
The creative director and producer of Wolfenstein: The New Colossus have announced that they are working on an independent DLC of the video game named Youngblood. Set in an alternative Paris of 1980, we will manage their two daughters in an experience that can be played alone or cooperatively. Without a doubt, a breath of fresh air in the franchise.
An unleashed Todd Howard has revealed that Bethesda Game Studios is working on their first new IP in twenty-five years. With a brief teaser, they have presented in society the next great RPG for a player of the company, Starfield. Of course, it seems that there is a long way to see it on our consoles.
The Elder Scrolls VI
Howard has concluded the presentation with the advance of the new installment of their most popular saga. Of course, it is easy to think that it will take many years to see since it has hardly shown a logo, not even a subtitle or the platforms on which it will be launched.
