Infinity Stones In Marvel Movies: What They Are & Where They Are | AIB
Infinity Stones are present in the Marvel Universe since Jim Starlin introduced them with that name in the 70’s. Now, mythologized in the comic and on the big screen, it is necessary to describe at what point we are. All six infinity gems are very powerful cosmic objects that control different areas of the universe as indicated by their names: Space, Reality, Mind, Time, Power and Soul.
Thanos wants to be the master of the Universe as he once did in comics in the famous galactic epic: The Infinity Gauntlet to which The Infinity War and The Infinity Crusade continued. In the cinema, everything is a bit different. The stones have been mentioned and have appeared in several movies. We analyze the entire history of the MCU-Infinity Stones before the arrival of Thanos in ‘Avengers: Infinity War.’ How many? What is their legend, their power, their history? Where are they now? All answered in this post.
Aether (Reality Stone)
The first time we got to see this gem was in ‘Thor: The Dark World’ when Jane Foster discovered it in London through an interdimensional portal. Centuries before, Malekith, leader of the Dark Elves, had tried to use it to submerge the New Kingdoms in eternal darkness. But he was stopped by Bor, father of Odin and grandfather of Thor, who hid the infinity stone that takes the form of a blood-colored liquid and thus erases it from the face of history.
However, Malekith finally had it in his hands, although he ended up being defeated by the Thor. This yielded the Reality Stone to Lady Sif and Volstagg to be delivered to the Collector, someone that the Asgardian hero believes to be legit. Filtered images of ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ revealed that Thanos would attack The Collector, so he is likely to recover it easily. As its name suggests, the Gem of Reality can bend the laws of reality and physics, so that Thanos could wreak havoc when he succeeds in possessing it.

Eye of Agamoto (Time Stone)
One of the greatest revelations of ‘Doctor Strange’ was that the Eye of Agamotto, in reality, it is the Time Stone. This was mentioned by Wong when Stephen Strange, the new Supreme Sorcerer of the Earth, placed it in the Kamar-Taj and accepted the wise advice of his friend that using it publicly was not a good idea. Despite this, in ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ and in the trailer of ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ he continues to carry it and seems determined to make use of it.
This will surely attract Thanos’s attention, as we explained the Time Stone had been hidden for centuries until now after the first Supreme Sorcerer – called Agamotto – created the Eye of Agamotto to house all his power. The abilities of the Time Stone could be seen in ‘Doctor Strange,’ as Stephen was able to use it to create an indefinite temporary cycle and to invest the time, something that could be very useful to undo epic deaths of personages.

Loki’s Scepter/Vision (Mind Stone)
The Mind Stone has played a crucial role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) to date and appeared for the first time in ‘The Avengers.’ Thanos gave Loki a powerful scepter to facilitate his plan to conquer and enslave the Earth, and we saw how Thor’s stepbrother put him to good use by owning the minds of Erik Selvig and Hawkeye. SHIELD took it into his custody after what happened, which allowed HYDRA to take him away and Baron Von Strucker to use it to create Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch.
After finding his way back into the hands of the Avengers, Tony Stark decided to create Ultron, and the villain used one of the Gems of Infinity to provoke the birth of Vision, a body or sheath that he would use before JARVIS. and that ended up obtaining autonomous control of it. It has recently been revealed that the Avengers will take Vision to Wakanda to protect him from the Outriders of Thanos, a fight that is now easy to imagine, concluding that Vision will be killed in ‘Avengers: Infinity War.’

Tesseract (Space Stone)
The Space Stone contains unlimited energy and that within the Tesseract it has the purpose of holding all its power. Guarded initially in Odin’s vault in Asgard, it was hidden on Earth and defended by worshipers of the Asgardian faith before being discovered by the leader of HYDRA, Red Skull – who has revealed himself to be still alive, during the Second War World. He used it to create weapons capable of defeating the Allies. However, after putting his hands – literally – on the Tesseract, the villain disappeared, and the old weapon was lost in the sea until Howard Stark managed to recover it and handed it to SHIELD.
During the events of ‘The Avengers,’ Loki had the task of using it to open a wormhole in the city of New York that would allow the Chitauri army of Thanos to invade our planet. From there, he was returned to Asgard before Loki decided to rescue him from being destroyed along with the Asgardian kingdom during the Surtur attack and the liberation of Hela’s tyranny in ‘Thor: Ragnarok.’ However, Loki will show off his condition, and he will end up handing him to Thanos in ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ However, we have not yet seen the real power of this Space Stone in all its splendor.

Orb (Power Stone)
The Power Stone was seen in Guardians of the Galaxy; it revolves around this powerful stone that found at the beginning of the film by Star-Lord. If you remember, it passed through the hands of the Collector who already has another stone and through the hands of Ronan, the accuser who with his power could be compared to Thanos.
Finally and due to the incapacity of the mortal beings to possess this force of nature, capable of destroying everything it touches, the Power Stone was kept by the Nova Corps. And everything points to the villain making the first stop there before visiting Earth in ‘Avengers: Infinity War.’

It is the only Infinity Stone still does not appear in any production, but it is known that with it you can keep dead or alive souls and then manipulate them. There is a lot of theories about this stone whereabouts, one argument that prevails today is that it is in Wakanda, but neither appeared in the film of ‘Black Panther’ nor has there been a direct mention of it in the trailer of ‘Avengers: Infinity War.’ Not to mention that what Thanos is looking for in the African country is the Mind Stone that with Vision, not the Soul Stone.
In another argument, post-credit scenes in Guardians of the Galaxy vol.2 shows a golden cocoon and inside is one Adam, referred to the Adam Warlock and he is the possessor of the Soul Stone in comics.
The Soul Stone can be the most powerful Infinity stone, and I wonder why it has not been in any Marvel movie before? There are no references. Now we know where we can see and enjoy … but the difference is that it will be Thanos who will carry it or will it be the only one that will be missing to complete his gauntlet?
