Know the facts of IIT study
Conceptual Study: For IIT, you can’t be just good at the subjects; Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. The questions asked at the entrance are not like your board exams. You will get multiple choice questions just like any other entrances. However, the difference is the type of questions. They are quite conceptual. They demand your understanding of every topic of every chapter. You won’t be expected to beat around the bush and answer. You need to know the exact answer. Remember that students scoring average on their boards may be able to crack the entrance. On the other hand, someone who is a school topper may fail to crack. That’s the difference.
Hard work pays: You need to be extremely hard working to crack the entrance to the top IIT. You can’t just randomly study and prepare. You have to have the dedication and responsibility towards the preparation. Joining JEE Main coaching classes help but they are not the only way to crack the entrance. Self-study needs to be an ace one.
Ace self-study: Set a benchmark for you every time you sit for self-study at home. You should be able to meet that benchmark every day. Complete your revisions and homework as when and required. Don’t delay. Study the concepts and try to master the weaker areas of study.
Strict time-table: When we say timetable, we don’t just mean setting a fixed time for the study. It means giving your precious time for the preparation every single day. You have to have that perseverance to adhere to the routine. That may mean giving up on your social life and the exciting life outside of books. Your sacrifice today will fetch you the result later. Of course, you can be a part of physical activities like games, exercise, yoga, etc. These activities will keep your mind and body balanced to stay firm on your time-table.
NCERT is the Bible: Yes, it is true that reference materials give you a better edge on solving more advanced problems. Did you know that no matter how tall a building is, if the foundation is strong, it will collapse? Similarly, NCERT is your bible, and you need to accomplish every problem in them. The best time to join JEE Main coaching classes is after the completion of the NCERT syllabus by self. After you are through with this, you can refer the extra books referred by experts.
Your best may not be the best: You may have scored the best after all the hard work. However, don’t assume that you will get into the IIT of your choice. Your score may be good enough for a different IIT than what you had dreamed of. The ultimate goal should be to get into an IIT. Which IIT is it? This question should not matter. Be headstrong and march ahead.
One year may not be enough: Don’t lose heart if you don’t clear the entrance in the first attempt. That doesn’t mean that that is the end. You can come back stronger the next time and even top. There are many examples like this. Finally, what you achieve matters. It doesn’t count how many times you attempted. We have an example of Sir Isaac Newton. He must have tried several times to prove the force of gravity. We don’t really know about that. We know that he proved it. That should be quite motivating, right?
IIT study is a dream, and that is not unachievable. Trust me, many students have made it, and you can do it so. If you have thought that JEE Main coaching classes are the only fact about IIT, you are not 100% right. You need to be ready with other aspects that make a huge difference too.
