GST Launch: Countdown To Midnight Rollout Begins | AIB

The much-awaited Goods and Services Tax (GST) will be launched today at a grand midnight function in the historic Central Hall of Parliament; it's biggest tax reform in India since Independence will change the country’s taxation system.

GST is deemed to benefit both the traders and consumers while providing resilience to government revenues due to increased tax compliance, with the implementation of this bill GDP is estimated to grow by 1.5-2 percent. From July 1, dealers and buyers will no longer be needed to pay a chain of central and state govt taxes as all of them come under into the one tax system, although there are GST, SGST, and IGST. In all, the GST Council has categorized things into five slabs — 0 per cent, 3 per cent, 5 per cent, 18 per cent and 28 per cent.

There is a lot of confusions among traders and consumers that GST may burden them initially, but, in the long run, it will benefit both by cutting down red tape — there will be no inspector raj, harassment by taxmen or check posts at borders. It will ensure transparency, reduce inflation, create a level-playing field, increase tax compliance and help achieve higher economic growth. It is anticipated to steadily reshape India's  $2 trillion economy, making the world's fastest-growing major economy an easier place to do business.

The GST launch function will be attended by President Pranab Mukherjee, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and a host of senior ministers and bureaucrats, among others. The launch function is likely to begin at 11 pm on June 30 and will be on until half past midnight.

MWC Shanghai: Vivo Exhibited Fingerprint Sensor Tech Embedded In A Smartphone Screen | AIB

Vivo, a Chinese smartphone manufacturer, has become the first company to showcase a fingerprint sensor under the display of a smartphone technology at the Mobile World Congress 2017 in Shanghai. It is based on Qualcomm technology and was shown running on prototype device on the current Vivo Xplay 6 phone.

Presently, Big screen devices are ruling the smartphone business, and now Vivo is aiming to boost their sales by launching a phone that has a fingerprint sensor embedded under the display. This development will make sure that device-makers will be able to achieve sleeker designs.

The company has said the component could also work with wet fingers or underwater and could be used to measure heart rates, and Fingerprint sensors are used to unlock devices without having to type in the code, to authenticate payments and to provide other identity checks. Until now, they have typically taken up room beneath the touchscreen or been placed on the rear of a device.

The fingerprints recognition technology can be expanded further to apprehend user interaction, such as gesture recognizing, security verifying and other areas, which will greatly enhance the user experience, the sensing technology can be utilized across the entire screen, but that it would significantly raise product cost.

However, one expert said Apple could still beat Qualcomm to market with a rival screen-integrated sensor of its own. Apple's forthcoming "iPhone 8" is reported to carry a fingerprint-sensing display, but the company has reportedly faced critical challenges in its efforts to develop the technology for its entirely redesigned flagship device, due to release in the fall.

A Massive New Cyberattack Is Spreading Across The World | AIB

A huge cyber attack named 'Petya' that originally hit Ukraine has spread across the world, causing significant disruption. The attack paralyzes firms, airports, banks and government departments in Ukraine.

The hack is the biggest in Ukraine's history, but it has now reached many other countries – comprising the UK, Spain, and India – and may be performing like the massive "Wanna cry" attack that maimed the NHS, according to cyber security experts.

Russia's top oil generator Rosneft said a large-scale cyber attack hit its servers on Tuesday and computer systems of the main Airport were also interrupted. In India, the largest port Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust in Mumbai shut down its operations at one of its three terminals following the attack. News agency PTI reported that in the UK, advertising firm WPP systems had also been hit, while in the Netherlands a major shipping company confirmed its computer terminals were malfunctioning.

Initial reports had hinted that this was a coordinated hack being launch at Ukraine and Russia at the same time. It's not clear how it started, or how it made its way to other countries. The virus is supposed to be ransomware - a piece of malicious software that shuts down a computer system and then demands an exorbitant sum of money to fix the problem. Victims of the malware are asked to pay a 300-dollar ransom after their hard drive is encrypted, crashing their computer.

Petya ransomware attack causes more havoc on machines than WannaCry as it targets the hard drive rather than individual files. This attack doesn't just encrypt data for ransom - but rather hijacks computers and prevents them from working entirely. Security experts stated that they did not think that the ransomware released on Tuesday had a kill switch, indicating that it might be difficult to stop.

Following last month's WannaCry trouble, some of the blame was pointed at US intelligence agencies who were blamed of "stockpiling" software code which could be misused by hackers. Such attacks pose a serious threat to the economy and businesses. Cyber-security experts believe that cyber crimes are growing at the faster rates that may reach six trillion dollars by 2021.

Airbus Reveals Future Helicopter Capable Of Flying At 400kph | AIB

Airbus an aerospace firm has presented the Airbus Racer a revolutionary helicopter concept of the future it says will be capable of flying at the speed of 400km/h at the Paris Airshow.

The Racer concept based on X3 prototype helicopter, which sets a speed record at 255 knots in level flight in 2013 of the same company, but with improvements in its design and components. The primary focus would be the addition of wings that, together with its propellers, would allow it to reach the High speeds.

The Airbus Racer is made up of the main engine located at the top, like any standard helicopter, but once it has taken off, this engine would decrease its power in support of the side propellers of the wings it can propel the aircraft at high speeds. If we see it in a way, it looks like a crossbreed between airplane and helicopter.

Airbus says it could revolutionize everything from air ambulances to private travel, it will be ready in 2019, and the first test flights will be made just a year later, in 2020. The Racer demonstrator will also benefit from a hybrid metallic-composite airframe, specially designed for low weight and low recurring costs.

Xstation Console Combines PS4 and Xbox One | AIB

Earlier there were two choices to make a decision between PS4 or Xbox, but either you’d like to admit it or not, there will perpetually be games from the other side of the barrier you wish you could play on your preferred console. The most obvious resolution would be to get both consoles, but that would quickly become a supervision nightmare. Luckily, console modder extraordinaire EdsJunk has come up with a cleaner and smarter solution. Meet the XSTATION, your Xbox One and PS4 in one gateway to gaming paradise.

The well-known modst EdsJunk has surprised us with Xstation, his last project and also one of the most interesting that has carried out since it combines a PS4 and an Xbox One in a single casing.

This makes the system look like a single console, although inside it is the logic boards and the reading units of each one. Despite all this said modder has been able to carry out a brilliant integration, which has allowed it to shape a system that is only slightly larger than Xbox One and does not present any temperature problem.

Both systems are coordinated through an Arduino microcontroller, which is responsible for alternating the operation of each of them. This is fundamental since the system only has a power supply (internal yes yes), and therefore we can only have active one of the two "faces" of the Xstation.

When we connect the Xbox One side the PS4 part goes into sleep mode and vice versa, so the recovery and jump from one to another system is quite fast and very simple as it is done with the push of a button.

Obviously, the system is not portable (has a relatively high weight), and we must connect it to an external screen to work, but the charm of the Xstation is the possibility of having two consoles in one.

This not only saves space but also allows us to use a single HDMI connector to enjoy Xbox One and PS4. As you can see in the video, we can also use the controls on both consoles without any problem.

7 Easy Ways to Preserve Your Smartphone at the Beach | AIB

Bringing the mobile to the beach is for many as important as the towel itself. Despite, so many hours in direct sunlight, sand or moisture, could severely damage terminal and its operation, causing irreversible damage to your screen or electronic systems.

It must be taken into account that, except for those users who have an additional insurance contracted, any such mishap will not be covered by the guarantee. However, new the terminal may be. To minimize all these risks, we will assess seven tips that will be very useful to protect your mobile on the beach, a place that many droids have become entirely useless.

1. The Sun and the Sand!

Precisely they are two of the elements that more abound in a beach and that unfortunately, more will be able to damage the actual operation of our smartphone. Assuming that we can not put sunscreen on our mobile phone, it is advisable to keep it away from the direct rays of the sun. Otherwise, it will start to heat up dangerously. Do not leave it in the sun or the next time you want to look at the Whatsapp you may not just turn it on, but you can fry an egg on the back.

Those tiny pieces of eroded rock, also known as sand, are born enemies of our smartphone. If we are not cautious and avoid direct contact, we can finish with sand through the headphones jack, between the frames, the keypad, inside the battery and the circuits of the SIM card.

2. Keep it away from water!

It's amusing to take your mobile to the water and to take pictures on the shore. However, better safe than sorry, a fall in sea's salt water can be fatal to our Smartphone. Moisture and corrosion will do your job fast without us being able to do anything about it. If your terminal is not ready for the dip, it is best to rest in the bag with the food.

3. Buy a Submersible Case!

The submersible covers for smartphones allow us to immunize our smartphone against almost any setback. This kind of plastic bag isolates our device and makes it possible to record or take photos under water, bury it in the sand without any problem or protect it from an occasional accidental drop. These cases are quite cheap and become one of the best forms of beach protection for our mobile.

4. Armored Casings!

Hard as a rock, transparent plastic or colored, these housings will subtract design to our terminal in favor of greater resistance. Mostly it will protect from the accidental fall in which water or sand should not enter the headphone jack output or the micro USB port.

5. Water and Dust Resistant Mobile!

If your thing is to spend hours and hours on the beach, your smartphone should be one with (at least), i.e., water and dust resistant. With such a terminal the user can be calmer in this type of environment by being protected against almost any inclemency or accident. Eye! Even if we have this degree of protection, the Sun, and its rays will continue to do theirs if we leave the mobile phone exposed too long.

6. Password and Pattern!

The beach is one of the favorite places to go when you are vacationing. Every year by this time, the police officers adjoining to the beaches are filled with complaints about theft of smartphones. It is advisable not to lose the mobile of sight for a single moment. If we run the risk of staying awake for a while, it is wise to store it in a closed compartment. Our smartphone should get protected with unlock pattern or password that makes it difficult to access the data. Installing a tracking application is not too bad.

7. The mobile stays at home. Take the smartwatch!

Just a couple of years ago this alternative was not possible. Today we can leave our Smartphone at home and stay fully connected receiving calls, messages and replying emails. The solution is in the emerging smartwatch market and specifically, in those that allow us to introduce our SIM card. This alternative seems like the safest way to get connected to the beach without exposing our smartphone to any risk.

Bringing the mobile to the beach is for many as important as the towel itself. Despite, so many hours in direct sunlight, sand or mois...

Toshiba Corp. Unveils Swimming Robot To Probe Fukushima Reactor | AIB

Six years ago, a tsunami and earthquake devastated parts of Japan's coastline in 2011, killing more than 18,000 people and more than a million buildings destroyed., it also hit the Fukushima nuclear power plant, triggering the worst nuclear meltdown since the 1986 Chernobyl incident. Parts of the damaged reactors are still highly contaminated with radiation.

Tokyo Electric Company (Tepco), in charge of the facility at the time of the earthquake and now they heading the current reconnaissance process, decided to use robots with cameras to investigate since the radiation levels are too high for a human being. But in certain sectors, the levels far exceed the 73 sieverts that can support the machines (a person exposed to 10 sieverts dies in a couple of weeks).

Tepco has admitted that its efforts to probe the site are repeatedly failing due to incredibly high levels of radiation. Robots keep getting fried on their missions, exactly from radiation damage or stranded on-site and died five times faster than expected.

As a ray of hope, the Japan-based International Research Institute for Nuclear Decommissioning (IRID) with the help of Toshiba has unveiled the robot, dubbed ‘mini manbo’ (little sunfish). It is a small swimming robot that will inspect the damage at the crippled Fukushima nuclear power plant. The robot’s radiation resistance is approximately 200 Sievert (Sv), according to its characteristics. The robot “is small enough and resilient enough to enter and inspect the damaged primary containment vessel [PCV] of Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station Unit 3,” a statement from the IRID said, adding that the device will be deployed next month.

So far, it has estimated that about 600 tons of nuclear waste, a project that would cost $ 35 billion and take between 35 and 40 years to complete, is expected to be removed. A post-tsunami investigation revealed that the safety plans of the Fukushima nuclear plant were obsolete and that the disaster could have been avoided.

Reliance Jio's New Active User Addition Dips In April | AIB

Reliance Jio has seen a dip in the mobile subscriber additions in April, after their grand entry in September last year, Bharti Airtel has added more active customers than Jio.

Top telecom operator Bharti Airtel chiseled up 2.6 million active subscribers, according to VLR, in April compared to RJio's 400,000 active customers addition, as per reports by Goldman Sachs and TRAI data. Visitor location register is a key metric indicating the number of subscribers actively using mobile services.

Jio has witnessed a dropdown in its active customers in a consecutive four months because the company has started to charge its users from the April, the slowdown is likely to continue. However, regarding net additions, RJio continues to add most subscribers. The latest entrant Telecom added 3.87 million subscribers in April followed by 2.85 million by Airtel, 0.81 million by BSNL, 0.75 million by Vodafone and 0.68 million by Idea.

Airtel has cut the tariffs rate in response to Jio's offers to lure back their customers, which they lost to their free offers. With Jio starting to charge, it sees this figure likely to stay stable for Airtel in the coming months as customers shift usage back to them.

Still, given the scale of Jio’s launch and subsequent additions, the Mukesh Ambani-owned firm maintains that they have a subscriber base of 112 million, its active customers were at 80 million. “We believe Jio is likely to make its next big push on subscriber additions when it launches a 4G feature phone to target mid-to-low end of the customer base, but until then subscriber additions are likely to remain subdued.”

Logitech G PowerPlay Wireless Charging System | AIB

Many of them prefer wireless devices these days because they give extra comfort without cables, but the other side is that sometimes we can not use them while loading or worse, we run out of batteries and we do not have spare. Maybe thinking about those problems, Logitech came up with the idea of a steady load mat with its technology called "Powerplay."

The announcement comes alongside new models of gaming mice, G903 and G703, and another technology of wireless connectivity, called "Lightspeed." What is striking about this is a constant load, so we do not assume that you have to stop using it at any time as it does with bases or cable charging. Powerplay removes the need ever to charge a wireless mouse because it is always receiving power.

The wireless charging tech built inside the Powerplay mouse mat is exclusive to Logitech, and the company claims it took more than four years of research and development to make it a reality. The mouse pad will charge your mouse wherever it's placed and no matter how it's moving. Technical details are insufficient, though we know it's based on magnetic resonance wireless power transfer on the surface of the mat, which is 275 x 320 millimeters.

The part responsible for transforming the area into charge current is what they call the Powercore module, which fits into mice. The load is constant and does not affect the use, without interfering with the transfer of data and movements, and will work in any mouse compatible with it (for now, being something new, only the two models that we have specified above). With a Powerplay Mouse Pad, never again will your wireless mouse run out of power.

Logitech announced that both the charging system and the new mice would go on sale next August. The G Powerplay charging system will be at $ 99, the same price as the G703, while the G903 will be at $ 149.
